The Invicta Open

The Invicta is now in its 29th year, having developed from a small provincial competition to a truly international event, last year drawing 38 overseas entries from The Netherlands, Belgium, France and others. It has earned an enviable reputation as a hard-fought but friendly competition with an excellent atmosphere, welcoming everybody from near beginners to regular open finalists. We are delighted to be back in the excellent facilities of UKC, where we’re using both halls to ensure ample room and smooth running of the competition.
Leon Paul will supply an equipment stall, the scoring equipment and also provide on-line entry facilities on their Web site if required. Food, drink and armoury facilities will be available.
A celebration meal with Tenterden club members will be held in Canterbury on the Saturday evening for fencers travelling from overseas. Please let us know if you might be interested in attending.

Where and When

We are in the modern Sports Hall of the University of Kent at Canterbury, Canterbury, Kent, CT2 7NZ. Canterbury is a medieval town famous for its cathedral, cosmopolitan atmosphere and streets packed with small shops, bookshops, larger chain stores and over 80 restaurants and pubs. The city also includes the Marlowe Theatre, museums, libraries, art galleries and a cinema, nightclubs, swimming pools as well as being set in beautiful Kent countryside. It is easily accessible by Road and Rail, and is a straightforward journey from the Channel Tunnel or Kent Ports.

The 2008 Invicta was held on the weekend of 15th - 16th March

The 2008 Invicta managed to maintain its reputation for friendliness as
well as being a hard-fought competition. Thanks to all who competed
and helped make it such an enjoyable event. Please do join us again.

Medals are awarded to the top 8 at each event, prizes to the top 4. Additional trophies are awarded to the top veteran (40 and over) and medals to the top under-20 in all events.

A plate competition is run for fencers eliminated in the first (incomplete) round of the D.E.

Events

All competitions at the Invicta are individual - there are no team matches.  Click on the “Invicta Events” button for full details.

The Epee and Sabre events will be held on the same day. It will not be possible to enter both weapons.
